Want a challenge?
We’re always looking for extra inspirers and activity-planners to help lead our young people, but we also need volunteers to get involved in a huge variety of ways – there is something for everyone!
Prior experience in a role is not essential or a requirement. As a volunteer for the Scouts, we’ll provide all the appropriate training and support you need to help get you started.

Group and District Leaders – Beavers/Cubs/Scouts
We’re looking for people who can support the section leaders in the District as well as help the relevant Assistant District Commissioner with their role. With a team, you could help organise district wide events, help with adult recruitment and be a point of contact for leaders to go to with questions or concerns.

Right now our super group at 2nd Southwater are particularly looking for extra volunteers to support with their Cub pack on Wednesday evenings. This is a friendly team with strong leadership who need extra people so that they can keep providing fun scouting for all of the children within their Cubs.

District Network Commissioner
You will have the opportunity to develop “Skills for Life” as well as master many other practical abilities. These include employability skills, leadership, teamwork and problem solving plus the chance to gain a wide variety of communication skills. You can can do this role alongside another Group section or unit role.
Youth certainly isn’t wasted on the young and we are keen to appoint within the 18 – 25 age bracket. We are looking for someone who will bring some vibrancy and energy to the position and most of all has the determination to make a difference.
There are amazing opportunities on offer for training and development including enrollment as a full member of the District Executive. You will also have access to regional and national opportunities throughout the Scouting network. Full role description is found on the National Scout website.

We’re looking for an approachable and organised adult to lead and coordinate the District Youth Forum, working closely with the District Youth Commissioner and Explorer Scout Commissioner. The forum meets 4 times a year to discuss ideas, look ahead at events and allows young people to voice their groups opinions. It’s a key part of ensuring scouting in Horsham follows the #YouShape strategy!

There are 10 Explorer Scout Units within the district, each led by a dedicated team of volunteers. We are currently looking for more section leaders and assistant section leaders to help guide our Explorers (14-18) at this exciting time of their lives. We are particularly looking for volunteers to support Apollo ESU on Thursday evenings.
