A group from Europa ESU headed down to the New Forest over the Easter break on what is becoming an annual event for the Unit.
We thought we’d try something a little different and booked in at Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre just south of Lyndhurst.
The weather was favourable, especially on the Saturday for our walk. We had wondered what we could do to put an interesting spin
on the walk, so armed with map, compass, GPS & a very useful i-Phone app we headed off to experience the world of Geocaching!! Everyone agreed it added an interesting dimension.
After lunch a very hard fought game of “Frisbee golf” ensued which took a steady hand to master.
Saturday evening was taken up by another Europa tradition of board & card games, complimented with cups of tea & maoam!. “Killer” is a firm favourite & at least 15 rounds were played before everyone hit the sack. (Give us a shout for the rules)
Sunday dawned with a chill in the air and sporadic periods of sunshine which were just enough to dry out the tents. We had booked the Centre’s Zip wire for the morning, which everyone enjoyed.
We can report that Ferny Croft is a fantastic Centre & a great resource for the Scout Association , with experienced & professional staff
& plenty of activities on offer. That coupled with the stunning New forest setting, we’d highly recommend anyone looking to plan a trip away gives it consideration.
Now its onto planning for the units October trip………………….????????
